Okay following the days activities in order. I get stuck with some needles in Acupuncture. Then it is off for a massage and facial in the Aquaspa. Now feeling very relaxed I go to the Art Auction and drinK their free drinks. Buy a really ugly picture of a bunch of olives. An investment they tell me. Now I am rocking so it is on to the Casino to win some money. But the ship doesn't know this ....so I lose. Now since I am already spending money, let's go talk to the Captain;s Club Cruise Sales manager and book a cruise. A really long one as the days activities take all my time. So after booking the cruise I need to go to econnections and get on the forum to tell you all what I am doing. Golf...I have to go play golf...Lord, I am getting tired. Oh good it is time to have relations with one of the guests. Not moving very well after all that golf. Can I lay down ? Forget smoking a cigarette, I am off to read a book ! Medical Center, Well, I would hope so...I need something to keep me going and one leg is dragging. NOW, they want to take my Photo? What, for the Gunness Book of World Records ? SHOPPING ! NOW YOU'RE TALKING. With my last ounce of strength, I know I can find something I like... Oh, sure I need to book that Jungle Hike for tomorrow at th Shore Excursion desk. Fantastic. Maybe throw in a kayak trip. So now I am at the end of the Day Schedule. In the Whirlpool, about ready to go down the drain. AND THEY SAID CRUISING WAS TO RELAX !

Which begs the question: Has anyone ever bought at 'Art Auctions?'

Liz- 06-26-2007

NO :!: :!: :!:

Manuela- 06-26-2007

I wonder how many of the "buyers" are "planted" to make it look like there is a lot of selling going on :?:

We heard on a P&O ship that one couple who had bought a number of expensive paintings (lottery winners!) had been given a free cruise in a suite by P&O. How true this was I don't know but if it was and that was out of their commission, wow what a profit the auctioneers are making! Even the free "champagne" has never tempted us into an auction. On Tahitian princess some joker found a spare F which they added to the sign for the Art Auction!!

I have never bought anything, but they have been doing the auctions for years so they must be making money from some one.

Jo, still howling over "f-art" auction :D :D :D :D

Big angry post on CC Holland Board about Park West taking over the entire Crows Nest for a cruise... For those that have not been on a HAL ship, this a wonderful room on the front of the ship...glass windows all around. Small seating areas here and there, leather recliners right at the front of the room facing out to the sea. A bar, dance floor.... A wonderful place to view the scenery , esp. Alaska. So Park West the Fart people have been hogging the room for their high bidders. They only gave up the room after 10 p.m. at night.. HAL cruisers are up in arms about it..as they should be. That venue is one of HAL's selling points and for it not to be available for all cruisers is a rip off. But you can imagine what Park West was paying HAL for this room. According to the stories on this thread, the room was empty most of the time. GREED !

I know of some passengers buying at the auction but the pictures were not the right ones when they arrived and the price was in excess of £2000. Thank you for the insight into your Azamara cruise.

Which begs the question: Has anyone ever bought at 'Art Auctions?' We met some people who had, but their art was 'lost' on the previous cruise (they should have been give it at dis-embarkation) and it still had not been delivered when they left home. The sad thing was that no one in 'authority' seemed bothered. We suggested that they cancel through their credit card, if it had not arrived when they returned home.
