Sapphire Princess in Singapore... Now that is a good shot. Sometimes the bigger ships are put out at a container dock, but that is from the cruise terminal looking across to Sentosa Island. The orange roofed building is where the ferry arrives,(very short trip),and you can see the steps up to the Merlion. You can climb up inside the Merlion for a nice view. The main entrance ,over a causeway,is to the left of the picture, and to the right is the tower where the gondolas leave from to cross back and above where the ship is berthed.A monorail also circles the Island. It would be around the foot of the Merlion. First time I have seen that shot.Usually the cam is pointed straight ahead, but the bridge today have it at right angles. :D

The view is not so good now

Thank you for the explanation, David! I had never seen that shot before and never having been to Singapore, I had no clue as to what I was seeing! :D Maybe Sapphire was just arriving? I wish all the cruse lines would pick a creative shot like that while in ports instead of just cranes and containers!

Where is Pacific Princess, yes, SYDNEY :D but where...never saw a ship in this berth before :?: Port Schedule says "Fleet Base 2" :?: Saw her come in and take a quick left and disappeared Statendam at Passenger Ship Terminal And Pacific Sun went on under the bridge into Darling Harbor

Liz- 11-09-2006

Where is Pacific Princess, yes, SYDNEY :D but where...never saw a ship in this berth before :?: Port Schedule says "Fleet Base 2" :?:> Interesting Liz. Fleet base 2 is Woolloomooloo, thats where QM2 will berth.Wonder why they put her there?A trial run maybe? She completes her Capetown to Sydney voyage today,is handed over to P&O Australia, then off tomorrow on her first Circumnavigation cruise.

Pacific Princess @ Fleet Base
Liz & Kiwi. PacificPrincess is at the Royal Australian Navy Fleet Base most likley to the fact that Statendam is at the Overseas Passanger Terminal and Pacific Sun is at Darling Harbour. Pacific Princess will move to Darling Harbour tonight when Pacific Sun departs as the Port schedual has PP departing Darling Harbour at 1600tomorrow. Wayne.

PP at Fleet Base.
Further info. Navy shif infront of Pacific Princess is HMAS Tobruk, a landing/supply vessel. A mate of mine spent quite a bit of time on her during the Australian deployment to East Timor a couple of years ago. The Wharf to the right is called Finger Wharf. It was refurbished a couple of years ago into an appartment block. Heaps of celebrities own units in there. I think there is a flash resteraunt in there to. Russell Crow owns the appartment right on the end of the finger. Wayne

If you look really hard, you can just see the stern of Pacific Princess jutting out between the the buildings. Opera House and Circular Quay are to the left of picture, out of sight.

Kiwi Kruzer- 11-10-2006

She been moved now to Pier 8 Darling Harbour .

This is GREAT info, THANKS, Wayne & David :D :D :D  Was curious about the Navy ship :D Another question......was looking at the cruise schedule for QM2....it says "docking at GI" :?: :?: :?: .....translates as Glebe Island :?: :?: Thinking this must be a mistake, because she would have to go under the bridge????? and I don't think she would fit  :?:

Wayne@SydneyAu- 11-10-2006
Liz GI
Hi Liz GI - translates to "Garden Island" the Fleet Base. Not Glebe Island. Princess "Grand Class" Wont go under the bridge. Wayne.

Wayne@SydneyAu- 11-10-2006

so no chance of the QM2 going under Wayne

Liz- 11-10-2006

:D :D Thanks..... :D the port schedule should define its "GIs" :D
