Fabulous captures  , but oh dear......CJ is homeward bound

Yes...sniff...we have to come home...Tuesday, someone else will be in our cabin...But oh my...do I have a lot of pictures to organize! Weather was regrettable today in Oslo. We got off and bought the day pass for the bus and museums, then took the ferry to the Folk Museum and Viking Ship Museum. We had seen the Viking ship before, in pre-digital days...So we went there first. They told us it was a five minute walk from the ferry. Hmmm...maybe if I was still 30 and it wasn't uphill...We didn't spend a lot of time there, then walked to the folk museum. It is quite extensive, we didn't have the energy to see all of the outdoor exhibits...Good thing not all are open every day. We spent about three hours there, walking all the time. It started to rain in earnest, so we called it a day and browsed the shop before heading back to the ferry. I don't know if there was a farewell from Oslo or not...I saw two tall ships leave while we were at supper, just before we left. Now, to the packing...CJ

Nice to hear from you CJ, the last day is never fun :( Are they doing a passenger talent show? They had to cancel it in 2006 due to lack of talent.

Lancashirelad- 08-10-2008

Looks like CJ might get a bit of rock and roll in the North Sea. Dogger Fisher German Bight Humber: Southwesterly 5 or 6, occasionally 7 in Fisher, backing southerly 4 or 5 later. Moderate or rough becoming slight later in west Humber and Dogger. Showers. Good. Thames Dover: Southwesterly 6 to gale 8, decreasing 4 or 5. Moderate or rough. Rain later. Moderate or good. Wight Portland Plymouth: Southwest 4 or 5, occasionally 6 at first, becoming cyclonic 5 to 7. moderate or rough. Rain. Moderate or good, occasionally poor later.

Nice captures of the departure Stephen. :D

From Stephen's captures.......doesn't look like there was much of a sail-away celebration :?: :?: :? I remember the walk from the Ferry Landing to the Viking Museum......no way 5 minutes :!: :!: :!:   And then the walk to the Kon-tiki and Fram Museums was no stroll in the park, either

CJ, Sounds like you've had alot of fun..... Some wonderful captures. It just always looked so cold. I don't think it would be the cruise for me. lol. But glad you enjoyed yourself. Sorry it's your last day. Always hated that feeling.... CJ & Liz, Don't you love when the locals say, "oh it's 5 minutes up the road". They did that to us last year in Ft. Lauderdale. Oh, the beach is just up the road. Yeah, 1 1/2 miles later. lol.... Good exercise but not what we planned.

Seas pretty good right now...They had the barf bags out by the elevators earlier, maybe again tonight? Yes, was to be a talent show this afternoon...we did not go. I bought the cruise video...was watching it on the TV and realized it was showing so much of the scenery, not like the Carnival ones that concentrate on the inane activities onboard...Now, to get the lst few things in the bags...Carolyn

I hope you manage to get everything in your cases :D.

I hope Essie has been good :) . Programme on BBC this evening, a flashback to a programme they showed back in the mid 1990's, filmed on Galaxy and featured a singer from Yorkshire, Jane McDonald, but also showed some of the passengers including a Mrs Goodman who had with her a large teddy bear called Edwina who had her seat at the dining table and liked salmon and champagne :D She had various soft friends with her and arranged a buffet in her cabin for them with quite a variety of food to sample :)

Galaxy, mid 1990's = PERFECTION

Lancashirelad- 08-11-2008
