Approaching by cruise ship in this weather means "sick day", approaching by other means of transportation is "doomsday"

Not a nice feeling when the pilot aborts landing.
My daughter experienced that twice in August & they were told they would have to go to Porto Santo to refuel, if the next attempt was a failure.
Fortunatly they landed.
A sudden storm had 'hit' the airport, no sign of it in Funchal itself.

I've had it happen twice......once, going into Copenhagen, when a General Aviation craft landed on the wrong runway :shock: :shock: we were actually watching this on a live cam, and I remember thinking, "why is that little plane there :?: :help:
The other time was at the Orange County Airport in Socal. We were just too close to the plane in front of us, on that one
