FUNCHAL, MADEIRA Just found a link which shows plans for the renovation of the Port of Funchal.
It says that work will start when the commercial traffic has moved to the new commercial port ( near the Airport)
The Web cam shows a clear section on the 'town side'.

I will report what I see as we leave on Monday for our 2 week holiday.

Jackie, in case I don't get a chance beforehand, I hope you & Adrian have a wonderful 2 weeks in Madiera! :D :D I'm sure you will be checking out the port while you are there.

Yes Robyn, but as yet do not know when we will be down there, as we are comitted to some baby sitting, so it is difficult to arrange a time to stand in front of the people cam, which has not been too reliable of late.

Jackie, is that your summer home down there?
Rather large, hope you have daily maid service. :D

Have arrived back, having a quick look before my supper.
Some unexpected ships in port:
John A Chapman Phillidelphia PA moored just ouside the port wall for at least 13 days, left yesterday. looked like a freighter of some sort; I wonder if it needed a spare part which had to be flown in from the states.

I have a few photos, but as yet do not have time to download.
Camera up to its tricks again.
I am hoping that it is the 110 voltage taht is the problem ( instead of 240v)
If not I am going to invest in a new one!
