Interview with Captain or Senior Officer
Not sure if this is the right place to post this. If it isn't, I'm sure Liz or someone can move it for me.
I have the opportunity to do an interview with the Captain (or other senior officer if he isn't available) of the Explorer of the Seas (RCCL) when I am on my cruise starting next week.
This is for a feature or series of features I am working on for the Seacruisechat Forums (http://www.seacruisechat.com/forums) and for my own fledgling "Cruiseship Reference" website (http://www.cruiseshipreference.com).
Is there anything you would ask, if you had the chance?
I can't promise I will be able to ask any of your questions, but I will sure give it a shot.
Thanks for all your ideas and suggestions.

A fine place for this, cause, indeed, will be an event :D :D
Well......bridgecams on ALL the RCCL ships and one on Voyager that shows outside as well as the atrium :D
AND, OH YES, that they find some other intro music for their website. What they are using now, makes me want to LEAVE as quickly as possible
Realize that neither of these is exactly within the purvue of Captain or Senior Officer
BTW, a dinner event :D has been planned
I agree with Liz! Bridgecams and atrium cams a must ask. I like the into music on the website, gets me reved up!
This is what is appearing on Voyager's webcam at the moment  Possibly the ship is experiencing a power failure  :D

I mean REALLY, what kind of PR is that
Actually, Explorer should be complimented on HER webcam, so much better since they raised it slightly
I agree, Bridge cams & internet cafe cams( not sure whether they have a IT teaching program on RCCI. If not why not?)
If their 'sister' Celebrity can fix computer lab web cams ,( + archives) why can't RCCI?
Never sailed RCL, so I don't know what they can improve on.
But do have a question.
How long does it take you to get to N.Y. ?

I don't know much about baseball, but I think that's what's called "out of left field" :!:
Mark
Making your lunch right now.

I'm warming up the Benz right now. Put the crock pot on low, and I'll be there in about 18 hours (I have a little tank, and so does my car  ).
Mark

Let's see - we leave here at noon on Wednesday, flying to Calgary, Alberta.
We overnight in Calgary, then onto another aircraft for Toronto at 8:00 am.
Arrive Toronto 13:45 (2 hour time change), change terminals, clear customs and get on another plane for Newark at 15:55, arriving at 17:25.
So that would be 29 hours approximately, less the two hour time change.
Are we remote? Yeah - just a little bit!

Just to clarify - I am thinking of asking about things RCCL does (or doesn't, as the case may be), but I am hoping the primary focus of the interview will be about the job of the Captain - day to day duties, how he got where he is, good and bad parts of the job - that sort of thing.
So - if you were able to ask the Captain one or two questions about his job or working on a cruise ship in that sort of position, what would the question(s) be?
Thanks again

Has he ever been in seas so rough that he felt sick?
Does it get more or less boring with modern technology assistance?
Just watching a TV program about rogue waves (somewhat sensationalized  } but interesting. Has he seen one :?: does he BELIEVE in them :?:
How much interaction with the passenger is he comfortable with...as in dinner, walking around the ship or giving a tech. talk to a group ?
Does he ever wish he could walk around unnoticed ?
It is like being a celebrity with all the people vying for your attention ?
Does he have his family onboard very often ( if married ).
What type of on the spot decision is he able to make before he must call his Corp Office ? Like a goodie to make up for missed port ?
By the time a problem reaches his attention is it very serious and has been through all the channels ?
And funniest dispute he ever had to resolve.
