Well I asked my kids to log onto the booking last night to check their information as they live with their Mom. I get a rather frantic message saying that when they log on it says the booking has been cancelled. :evil: I then log on and sure enough it says this:

I am trying to deal with right now. PHil ...... not a very happy guy with HAL right now.

Seems to me that Phil has not had much luck with cruising recently.. :P ..don't know if I would take the chance of going on same sailing as him...might have something to do with his sailing with Dani.. :shock: :P :P :twisted: :twisted:

I have just got off the phone with both my TA and HAL and they will do nothing nor can they say why it happened. They claim they have had no computer issues recently. In fact HAL went on to say that I entered the booking number wrong and I kindly pointed out I tried this twice in case this was the case. The 2nd time I copy pasted the booking number to make sure and same screen. That was when I did the screen capture. I asked about further compensation (as my TA suggested) and was told I am sorry the cruise is sold out. I then pointed out all the cabins that were in fact open (most all were triples funny enough) and then you could hear the back peddling start. At this point the excuse was they could not possibly give me a upgrade from a inside to a outside. I have to say I have never seen a booking system that is so screwed up as HAL right now. Phil

Shades of the Nordam debacle...where they sold them for almost nothing due to computer pricing being incorrect and then after the fact... when people had paid in full...they billed them for the difference and did not honor their own mistake. Bad, Bad PR for them...many people were billed for 1000 or more each. So where does this leave you ...with or without a cruise ? Reminds me of our "rusty staple in the Pat's lunch ".....not much sympathy for that situation...a very dirty, finger printed bottle of cheap wine delivered to our room .... Haven't been on Holland since and sad for we did have some great cruises on them. What is it with customer service ?

I should have added that yes I am indeed booked on this cruise. I fly to Anchorage next Saturday morning overnight and then the train to Seward on Sunday morning. I am beginning to think HAL is not the HAL I last cruised with nor the cruise line I first cruised with 24 years ago. Phil

HAL is still a nice cruise but I don't believe it is the Premium line of years ago.

I can tell you I always thought HAL was tops but after my Mercury cruise in February and my dealings with HAL now, I am now a Celebrity convert for sure. Very sad for what was once a upscale line.
