Debbie...I know how important these 'mini-breaks' are....it's been a year since my last cruise
However, 2 things coming up this week, sort of cruise-related, well....at least nautically-related
Tuesday - flying off to Uluru (Ayers Rock) early in the morning to meet up with my San Diego friends Tom & Debbie, who have been enjoying hot weather, rainforest & Great Barrier Reef trips these last few days. They fly from Cairns, and we fly from Sydney to meet up. Sounds of Silence dinner at Uluru Tuesday evening....and we are all contemplating a camel ride :o ('ships of the desert' ) on Wednesday morning, before our other touring.
Saturday - we are going to Garden Island where QE2 docked this year, and QM2 last year. However, we are going beyond the Public Access area. A Lieutenant Commander at the Navy base where Deborah runs the Officers Bar (neat job :) ), will be taking us on a private tour of some of the Navy ships docked there. As Tom & Debbie's daughter used to train dolphins for the US Navy in San Diego - I am imagining the LC will be interested in that.
Should be fun.....if allowed, photos will be taken & posted :!:
Then after that, I am imagining they will have a lot of re-packing to do, before they sailaway on Sapphire Princess on Monday 14 April for 31 nights back to the USA.
Enjoy the Sounds of Silence Dinner. How wonderful that you are doing it :D :D
And fantastic about your private tour of the ships at Garden Island :!: :!: :D

Yes Robyn,
These mini trips are great. Helps with the insanity of work....lol. And the possible Sept. cruise. I'm just excited to possibly turn someone else onto the joys of cruising.
I'm envious of your friends. Can't wait to get to the great barrier reef and go diving.... Awesome.
Be careful with the Camels. They aren't a mean critter but they can be nasty is that they "spontaneously" spit.... Don't stand in front of them.lol. You'll get a mouthful. Have fun and sounds like a grand time.
G'day all, Robyn don't you worry about spitting camels. Just get your knitting needles out (Uncle Robert to the rescue)

Thanks Debbie, I aim to have a great time :D I've ridden a camel before.....at the Pyramids in Egypt many years ago, and the poor thing didn't look healthy enough to spit at anybody :o Hope I get a good-natured one
Debbie and Robyn, sound like great trips for you both.
And you are right getting a break when you are working is SO important. All that keeps you sane at times!
