Now, getting really excited :D :D Cunard has booked my air.....Virgin Atlantic. As I pretty much expected, it is through Heathrow....but direct from and back to Newark. These flights were not showing up at all on either Orbitz or Travelocity :?: :?: The flight back to Newark doesn't leave until 4pm on the 26th :D ......so should have time to travel down to the airport on that day :?: :?: :?: Now I must really get busy and try to figure out the train schedules

Liz Flying direct to Heathrow is another option flights from £37, you need at least 1.5 hours to change terminals. If it is easier to fly up either Manchester or Liverpool we can collect you. http://www.skyscanner.net/gbp/flights/man/lhr/080526/airfares-to-london-heathrow-from-manchester-in-may-2008.html

I don't think you would get a train for that price!

Great news Liz :) Flying south could be a good idea, it would save you having to cross London.

:D :D :D Am thinking now of flying both up and back :D :D Only concern.....I would miss seeing spring countryside if I fly...SO still a work in progress    to Cliff and to Jo who have sent me such helpful suggestions :D :D

Liz, it looks like you might have to fly up and down, the West Coast Main Line might be closed for eningeering work.

Liz- 03-01-2008

  Oh, dear. Probably cheaper to fly both ways......but really thinking of train up and flying back. Is this for certain, or a maybe :?:, about the engineering work YES, would do it, just to see England in bloom. And I really like trains :D

Lancashirelad- 03-01-2008

It is a for sure on the way south. If you are coming now on the Friday you will be ok. But if you are coming on Saturday, I think you will have problems.

Liz, it looks like you might have to fly up and down, the West Coast Main Line might be closed for eningeering work. Engineering work takes place over a Bank holiday weekend- which it is. In the past, I have had problems getting back from training days, held over a Bank Holiday weekend, so have stayed at my son's.

:D :D :D Coming North on the Friday, the 23rd. One thing is for sure.....I've got to stop dilly-dallying and make some reservations :!: :D

alanm- 03-02-2008

You should be OK with train on the Friday Liz, things go pear shaped over the weekend with engineering work at Rugby closing the line, there was a load of problems at New Year because work done over Christmas and New Year over ran and no trains could travel for a few days and work is still well behind schedule so no trains on Bank Hols and Sat afternoons and Sunday mornings over 13 weekends in the summer

Joanne48- 03-02-2008

The Bank Holiday here could be why the fares are dear so better to do sooner than later!!  (nag, nag, nag!)

Liz- 03-02-2008

:D :D :D I'll talk to my TA first thing tomorrow......get him in the loop with this...... And then, will make a decision re: flying.....train.....hotel :D :D
