Slightly off topic here, but we were thinking of having a return train ticket to MAN Airport for our recent big 'adventure.' I couldn't book a return as we were returning outside the 31 day limit. :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: It would have meant 2 singles, which really bumped up the price ( a return is only very slightly more than a single Liz)

Received our tickets today. Still playing with the little ferry boat on the jacket. This makes it seem a lot closer now. Just waiting for some info from National Express about coaches. Should also be able to get some train info now. Schedules are only posted 12 weeks ahead so just coming up. No low advance fares that weekend, by the look of it. We won't have a lot of time in Manchester. Is the War Museum a good choice??

Embarrassingly we haven't been in :oops: :oops: but it is supposed to be very good http://north.iwm.org.uk/ Manchester itself has a very small city centre and to walk the major points of interest would probably take no more than a couple of hours. There ias a tram system in operation between the Salford Quays where the ship goes from and the museum is situated http://www.metrolink.co.uk/ Yes tickets will be dear on transport that weekend because it is a public holiday on Monday so lots of people moving around for a long weekend.

Well, I have made a hotel reservation :D :D :D .....at the St. Giles......centrally located....near Euston Station and YES, I can smoke there.........87 pounds per night. I am a happy camper :D :D Thanks, Jo.......this one was on one of the lists you sent me :D :D

Well done Liz. Cliff, I haven't been in the War Museum either but I know several people who have and say it is very impressive so could well be on your "to do" list :D

Cliff I have been to the war museum and it's well worth a visit. You can also go to the Lowry which is just the other side of the canal. A famous local painter.

:D :D Got train and flight booked. :D :D Train IS expensive :shock: but did it anyway. Arriving in Liverpool...Lime Street at 12:47pm on 23, May. Flying from Manchester to Heathrow at 11:10am....arriving 12:15pm on 26, May. Should give me plenty of time of time to change terminals, retrieve my luggage and get to flight home :cry: leaving at 4pm
