Great pix and videos, Liz! I think you have discovered another "Cold Drinks with the Most Beautiful View" place!!! 8) Thought maybe it was the same as the one we went to but looks different. :D Will have to try that one the next time we are in Dubrovnik. I will ask you for directions.   I think there is only the one .........Its called Buza, meaning Hole in the Wall. http://www.korculainfo.com/dubrovnik/restaurants/ (from the above link)............... If you want to enjoy sea views, then watch the sunset at Cafe Buza, a café wedged on a rocky terrace between Old Town’s walls and the sea. To reach Buza Cafe, At the COLD DRINKS sign, walk through the buza, or hole in the wall and you are there.

To reach Buza Cafe, At the COLD DRINKS sign, walk through the buza, or hole in the wall and you are there. Trip Advisor solved the mystery! There are two Buza Cafes! And, here are directions how to get there!!! Buza cafe is a a great place to hang out while in Dubrovnik! It is very difficult to explain how to get there without getting lost. It is on the outer side of the Old Town walls facing Italy. The best way to get there is to go behind the Church of St. Blaise and to keep walking past Hemingway bar, past the Cathedral, then pick a little side street and walk towards the wall facing the Adriatic sea and Italy. When you hit the wall keep walking along it until you reach a door. At this point, you can go left or right, and either way will take you to one of the two Buza bars- slightly different spots, no food, great views either way. The pictures are from our visit in 2005. The entrance...or "hole in the wall".

:D :D :D Mystery solved :D NOW, about those directions     :D Take it as a "given"; you will get lost :!: :!: :D But, I never saw any other door,....entrance, whatever :?: :?: :?

If you find it and stay long enough, do you get a Booza Buzz from the drinks at Buza ?

tigersxm- 06-15-2008

   Well, if you are on a cruise and if and when you find Buza you really only have time for one or two drinks so no Booza Buzz, Dani!!! :D

Kiwi Kruzer- 06-15-2008

   Well, if you are on a cruise and if and when you find Buza you really only have time for one or two drinks so no Booza Buzz, Dani!!! :D You also have to leave time to visit a bank in the town and take out an extra mortgage on the house to buy the drinks  :o

Liz- 06-15-2008

:D :D :D Actually, I don't remember that they were all that expensive :?: :?:

Tuesday, May 13 Trieste/Venezia Up early and out on deck, but not before we docked. Dashed back down to find the tour and then, off to Venice. There was a band to play us off on the train. Morning in Trieste http://travel.webshots.com/video/3098150640056925461nArrFL They were SO GREAT to us in Trieste, that it was almost embarrassing to leave for Venice  My plan for the day was to walk from the railroad station to Piazzale Roma and then to the Marittima, to see the ships, and then to the Zattere (the promenade along the Giudecca Canal). Planned stops were at Trattoria San Basilio, where Robyn, Deb, Jeff & I had some great dinners, and, of course, La Calcina  This was farther than I thought, but all worked out Then, back-tracking slightly, to the Academia Bridge and across it to find La Fenice. NOT so easy to find, but I finally did. Did their tour,….of course, I am no expert, but I think they did a good job of reconstructing it. You would certainly never know that there had been such huge, horrible fire.  If you haven’t read it, John Berendt’s book “City of Falling Angels” is a must-read. They had it in QE2’s library and I re-devoured it “on the boat” It is putatively about the La Fenice fire, but SO MUCH MORE!!!!! At this point it was getting late and I had walked a long way  Didn’t really feature finding my way back to the Academia Bridge and the vaporetto. And the thought popped in…..GONDOLA!!!!! These were all over the place. I don’t think the trip lasted more than 15 minutes to the San Toma stop, which is why, I am sure, that I could negotiate a deal The last picture is taken from the Railroad Station Plaza Video taken from Trattoria San Basilio http://travel.webshots.com/video/3073624980056925461eogfdT Video taken while walking to La Calcina. I was in seventh heaven  http://travel.webshots.com/video/3006358390056925461REjTEn I Gondoli video  http://travel.webshots.com/video/3050931710056925461nqAsHz Back onboard in Trieste, they gave us a fabulous send-off. The “confetti machine” was going full blast when we arrived back at the pier, but had stopped by the time we were on the ship. You can see the piles of it on the pier, though, in the video You can also see the tent where they were giving out the wine & cheese. Boy, that cheese was good :!: :!: :D Wine was good, too No, that is NOT me singing on the video   :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YyXYbSMsic

Great vidoes Liz :) Sounds like you had a wonderful time in Venice and Trieste

robyn- 06-15-2008

Wonderful, Liz And yes...I remember that waitress  - still think she was shy or perhaps not sure how good her English was? All the other La Calcina staff were fantastic.....mind you, they should have been with bottles of Brunello and Barolo all over the table during the 7 hour lunch

jackie- 06-16-2008

Liz, Bet you had to take out a mortgage for the gondola ride! I keep popping in; I thought I might have more time soon as I am marking my last school, but have just noticed another 114 scripts are on their way.
