Split
I was totally amazed by Split. Yes, I knew that the Summer Palace of the Roman Emperor, Diocletian, was in the center of town. What I didn’t realize was that the center of town is 10 seconds from the tender pier. To the left of the tender pier is a wide area with harbor front restaurants and the palace entrance is to the right, and up a short ways
I joined up with another woman, Ann, from the ship…..who was also strolling alone, and we walked the palace……had a coffee, and then wandered the streets, together.
The palace is incredible, and I LOVED the town, too. Lovely wide sea view piazzas with restaurants and some beautiful buildings

In the palace, we had a concert

I had made inquires about the Oceanographic Institute. Much too far to walk. It was about a 20 minute taxi ride

Ann had no desire to do THAT. So I went out there, alone. Found a fantastic taxi driver, Anthony, who was quite intrigued with my mission. When I first approached him, I asked him if he spoke English. He said “try me” . He spoke it VERY well. We negotiated 20 Euros for the whole expedition.
I was so glad that I did this, as it gave me a chance to see some of the countryside. After we finished at the Institute, he insisted on taking me a bit farther out….at no extra charge, to see some beach areas.
As I look at this video, I don’t think I was standing in the right place  Think I should have been farther to my left. Now why they didn't know where their camera pointed, I have NO idea :? :?
