Finally, am through Cadiz  Saturday, May 17, 2008 was a breezy sea day. I spent a good deal of it right HERE http://travel.webshots.com/video/3024577090056925461ftSJFh Sunday, May 18, Cadiz This was looooong day. Had decided on a bus and walking tour, which included a Taverna for Flamenco and Tappas. Since it was a Sunday, almost all of the shops were closed. Cadiz is really quite a small, compact city in area. The tour bus took us past the Botanical Garden and out to the Bay. It then returned to the city and dropped us off at the Main Square by the Town Hall, from which we walked to the Cathedral, and went inside. After that we walked through lovely streets to the Taverna for the Flamenco and then met the bus again at the Espana Square, by the Cortez Monument. Took the bus back to the ship. Slide Show First Video is from the Bus and some of the walk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmnMcGiIBuo Second one is more of the walk to the Taverna, including the Cathedral http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFgVI765rZg The third one is from the Taverna. Pity that it is so dark; you can barely see the dancers. I know nothing about Flamenco, but I thought they were quite good. Probably once is enough, though. The wine and tappas were fair, at best The long discussion by the Cortez Monument was about the best way to get cash for tips. THIS, I accomplished successfully. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEY15JcDGHY After returning to the ship, I set off on my own. Main mission was to see if I could find out anything about the Cadiz cam. Went to two different tourist offices, but they were totally clueless. Did find one Security Guard who knew about it and pointed out the building were it is/was. Of course, the Port Authority Office was closed, it being Sunday. Maybe when I am there in March So, wandered around the Port Area and took pictures. Looked just like it did on the webcam  http://travel.webshots.com/video/3057951690056925461gCJbqZ Then, came back onboard to arrange the stalk. So cute,…. one of the Bar Steward’s, Greg, asked me when I left again, “Do you think that they will really see you?”. I reported to him later, that “Yes, they found the ‘right speck’ “. :D And this was the evening of the Grand Suite Soiree. Had received a written invitation under my door :D The lay-out of their suite, 8002, looks nothing like it does on the Cunard site. This is NOT TO SCALE, and, of course, has more furniture in it Andrea and Len and me And they even invited an “eligible” gentleman  for me. Tim, a very nice guy By this time, I was feeling very ill, indeed, from my cold, and did not go in to dinner. My onboard bar bill for this day was $0

More wonderful pictures and videos! Liz, it's a shame about that cold. Tim looks like he was ready to dance! 8) :D

Liz- 06-23-2008

:D :D :D They didn't use them at all :? :? :? We were all very surprised about this :!: What you are hearing is just their heels

Lancashirelad- 06-23-2008

I see you found a nice spot on Upper deck outside the Yacht Club. Did the deck bounce? The Teak had lifted and there was quite a lump there in December.

Liz- 06-23-2008

:D :D :D It was a LOVELY spot. Just perfect :!: :!: :!: Don't remember any particular bounce or a lump :?: :D

Liz, I see that on our HAL voyage, the only port we are in on a Sunday (other than Half Moon Cay) is Barcelona. I do hope things are open there...I want to do the tour to Montserrat...CJ

:) I think they must have fixed it as part of the wet dock

Monday, May 19 Woke up feeling really dreadful. Had booked another massage for the morning, hoping it would make me feel better,……. but it really didn’t. I finally gave and went to the doctor in the afternoon. This night was the last formal evening, and I decided that I really must go Sunset from the Queens Grill Lounge  Ah, yes the table. Clockwise, Win, Jean, our Chief Steward, Lawrence, Esther (aka Cho-Cho-San), Sally (aka Baby Jane and Audrey (aka Muesli) after her favorite topic of conversation….the muesli she had EVERY MORNING FOR BREAKFAST :!: :!: :!: A lovely couple, Marilyn and John :D Not really sure just when I took this, but figure it fitted here, best. Just wish I had taken one with some of the more colorful characters often found in the lounge  Queens Grill Lounge The next day had to be “packing day”. I was feeling a bit better, thank goodness. Jo & I wondered later as to just what would happen if someone simply couldn’t pack or, worse yet, didn’t pack  . Would one simply get dumped onto the pier with your belongings in a pile   And, then we arrived back in Soton on Wednesday morning   A very brief video of Arcadia following us in, with some horns http://travel.webshots.com/video/3074157040056925461fKGfKU And a few pictures Arcadia follow us in Independence OTS from the van heading for Heathrow NEXT PORT, London :!:

Liz, I see that on our HAL voyage, the only port we are in on a Sunday (other than Half Moon Cay) is Barcelona. I do hope things are open there...I want to do the tour to Montserrat...CJ CJ I am sure the tours will take place. Sometimes however they are in the afternoon, which leaves the morning free for church.

Lancashirelad- 06-23-2008

:) Believe it or not, we have met Marilyn and John, they were on QE2 1997 the last time we went to Bergen. We watched the video last night and there they where, thats how we remember them. A great picture of Win :)

Liz- 06-23-2008

How totally incredible, Stephen :D :D   What a small world this is. :!: How I WISH I had known :!: :!: Any idea as to their last name, E-Mail address, street address :?: :?:

Lancashirelad- 06-23-2008

No sorry, we did not get to know them that well, they were just a couple sat at the next table. :)

Joanne48- 06-23-2008

Spooky how coincidences like that happen   Mind you the number of times Stephen has been on QE2 he must know EVERYONE!
