     We're on a cruise on the 21st September!! All this action 15 minutes away and we'll miss it, oh pooh!!! Jo, I think all in all I would prefer the cruise. I am lucky I get to do both

Jean, Will you be up for wearing a Beatles outfit ?

Jean- 03-22-2007

Dani, I think I am too old to wear a beetle outfit. When Stephen was small I did a lot of sewing and I made him beetle jackets, they were easy to make because they just had a round neck. I Think it will be a great day in Liverpool. We may get to visit the cavern club. Although we don’t live far from Liverpool and do go for day visits we have not done the beetle trail. There is a Maritime Museum at the waterfront, which is full of modal ships and all things nautical, so we have to visit. We also get a very good view of the river from the 3rd floor windows.

Jean Don't forget the Ferry across the Mersey! (Gerry Marsden remember him!)  Our next door neighbour married a member of his band.

Joanne, when we came into Liverpool on the QE2 on its 25th anniversary they played Ferry cross the Mersey when we were on the transfer ferry. Gerry and the pacemakers were on the ship to entertain in the evening. But we had disembarked so we missed them. Maybe, they will be part of the entertainment this September?

Had a letter from Cunard today :) Looks like this is going to be as much of an event as a cruise. Special dinners to mark the 100th anniversary of Mauretania's first sea trials, QE2s 40th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of Queen Mary leaving New York for the last time. Going to get a special concert in Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.

Well worth a visit Dani if you get up this way. Just a slight correction, the organ is no longer the largest in England. The Royal Albert Hall in London, recently added more pipes to their organ to make it larger than Liverpools. It should be a great concert with the Scots Gaurds and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

Dani- 06-05-2007

POOH on the Royal Albert Hall, do the extra pipes work or are they fake ? Hmmmmmmmm Looks like I may be able to schedule Pat a Sunday service in Gloucester Catheral which would make him very happy. We always see lots of churches on our travels for that is where so much of the artwork is to be found. And as a history side note....The Red Color for the British Army was Stroud Red from the weavers ( me family included ) of Stroud, Glos.

Yes Dani, the pipes do work. the RAH's organ was the largest until they built Liverpool Cathedral so they only got their title back. The Catholic Cathedral in Liverpool is well worth a visit as well. :). My mother and I like to visit churches as well :)

I love to visit churches, the older the better. I found St. Bartholomew the great in London from a booklet i bought in Westminster Abbey. I was looking for Norman/Romanesque churches. CJ

The concert in Liverpool sounds good, would like to be there for that.

Joanne48- 06-11-2007

Sound quality is not brilliant, but it is a very beautiful space to listen to music in Alan. And the Catholic Cathedral (known locally as Paddy's Wigwam) is just a few hundred yards away at the other end of Hope St!

Dani- 06-11-2007

I kid you not. Before it was torn down, The Kansas City Zoo had an Ape house building that looked like that Paddy's Wigwam.... It was touted as such an unusual, artistic design....the Apes hated it... It was small inside...giving all the space and money to this soaring top. It cost a lot to build and even more to tear down. Amazing. Wish I could find a picture of it but they have probably all been burned. I just hope the members of Paddy's don't react like the Apes. They showed their unhappiness by flinging excretment on the zoo patrons...not a fun place to visit. Made for lonely Apes.
