Today was the start of the 2008 Tall Ships Festival in Victoria. The last one here was in 2005. The mooring area can be seen on the RBCM camera here: http://142.36.244.87:8888/ImageViewer?Mode=Refresh&Resolution=640x480&Quality=Clarity&Interval=45&Size=STD Full info here: http://tallshipsvictoria.ca/ The event will last all weekend and feature cannon battles offshore in the evenings. We have not volunteered this year but are going Friday AM to have a look. Will try to get some pictures to post. The Fleet list shows 21 vessels but I understand there may have been a cancellation or two and one ship ran aground in the San Juan Islands and was doubtful. This years feature ship is the USCG Eagle.

OK - here they are. http://photoshare.shaw.ca/view/6401165391-1214611634-22744/64011 There is a short description of all the participants here: http://tallshipsvictoria.ca/content/view/25/50 Most have a link to the ships own website for more information. Thought I would throw a couple of slightly off-topic pics in here too. The Provincial Parliament Buildings (panorama) The COHO ferry - built late '50's and still making several trips a day across the Strait of Juan de Fuca between Victoria and Port Angeles on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State.
