Today was the start of the 2008 Tall Ships Festival in Victoria. The last one
here was in 2005.

The event will last all weekend and feature cannon battles offshore in the evenings.
We have not volunteered this year but are going Friday AM to have a
look. Will try to get some pictures to post.
The Fleet list shows 21 vessels but I understand there may have been
a cancellation or two and one ship ran aground in the San Juan Islands
and was doubtful. This years feature ship is the USCG Eagle.

The Provincial Parliament Buildings (panorama)

The COHO ferry - built late '50's and still making several trips a day
across the Strait of Juan de Fuca between Victoria and Port Angeles
on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State.
