s.s. Rotterdam Gobelins
In September 2004, while the s.s. Rotterdam was docked in Gibraltar, the
four gobelin tapestries which were designed by mrs. Giselle d'Ailly-Van
Waterschoot, were stolen.
With help of a textile museum, copies could be made, which are now finished.
Awaiting the arrival of the ship in Rotterdam, these gobelins will be on
display in the Rotterdam Maritime Museum.
Last Saturday, when in Rotterdam to meet schoolfriends from 50 years ago, we walked into the Maritime Museum to make this photo of the tapestries.
