Thanks Willem. You always learn something on here!
Jo
It is more like: Important looking people in expensive cars
On one of the maritime forums I subscribed, I met following message:

Turbotechnik confirmed they won the contract for some work on the ship that apparently will encompass work on the superstructure steelwork. Work seems to have started.
Turbotechnik has (according to the poster's observations) no skills in doing the restoration of the interiors, though.
Also alledgedly, the asbestos is still aboard. The ship will stay in Wilhelmshaven at least until May 2007.

The City of Rotterdam has stated that the quay at Katendrecht (Maashaven) will be ready on May 15, 2007.
Thanks for the update. :-)
Here is a picture of Rotterdam in Gibralter taken in 2001.

s.s. Rotterdam in Wilhelmshaven - photos
On 16 and 17 November 2006, representatives of the Urban Design and Public Housing Department of the Municipality of Rotterdam, the Municipal Public Works Department and the Rotterdam Development Corporation were invited by De Rotterdam BV to visit the ship in Wilhelmshaven and witnessed the work in progress. Mr. Onnie Tjia of the Urban Design and Public Housing Department, was so kind to provide some photos he made during the visit. He also witnessed that the bags with asbestos waste ( the so-called Gibraltar-bags) were transported to the cargo-ship CELICA.
These photos can be viewed on my website within the chapter: s.s. Rotterdam / s.s. Rembrandt, the la-*test*-('") news!
You are right Willem, it was 2004, not 2001  :whoops:
I was there from 12 till 19 July :)
Great to see that at least some progress is being made :D
Also, loved your pictures of Pearl.......more NCL funky colors, but some of it looks quite beautiful.
What on earth IS the red velvet brothel :?: :?: :?: :?:
Friends of mine have been in Wilhelmshaven on 20 December 2006 and of course they went to Hannoverkai to take a look how the work on the s.s. Rotterdam is going on.
They have taken some photos which are now published on my website under the chapter: s.s.Rotterdam / s.s. Rembrandt, the la-*test*-('") news !
Thanks, Willem. Think I see progress :D :D
The Urban Design and Public Housing Department of the Municipality of
Rotterdam (copyright ©) has made a videofilm (duration 4:20 min.) which
gives you an impression about the parkinglot and walkingboulevard at
Katendrecht (future berth).
This Department has given permission to show you this film via my website.
That is going to a beautiful home for her, Willem :D
Hope they are planning to have something to sit on
A lovely park-like setting for her! Thanks, Willem! :D
