We enjoy looking at these photos and video, however the ship is much to large for our taste. The ship's crew and pax count is large enough to almost have it's own zip code. It's hard to imagine the embarkation and disembarkation with that many folks! _________________ "Sea" ya,

Agreed.
I believe that the passenger count at two to a cabin is over 5k, then add the crew. Then think of the total when the cabins have all the bunks filled. Way more people than an Aircraft Carrier.
The size of a small city. They should have their own Police Station .
This ship will totally swamp a small port. It would be best, in my opinion, if they only berthed at large cities. I imagine it needs a pretty deep port ? or they would have to anchor out and tender in a good distance ?
It is like a floating land resort, better suited to staying in place |

Largest lifeboat holds over 350 people, and even has bathrooms...But they will never call at a port where they have to tender. CJ _________________

Thanks for the link. Sorry but we had to laugh when Captain Wright said they were doing 6 knots. We had weather like that in 2006 on QE2 and never dropped below 24 knots. _________________ Stephen

Stephen you are talking about a true Liner !
Today's ships have not a patch on QE2.
Still think this new Ship is better suited to lumbering around smooth Caribbean waters.
Infinity clipped along at 25 knots to Hawaii on her 5th voyage. They kept a chart in the lobby showing our distance traveled each day. They were very proud of her eating up the miles each day. |

I agree Dani, I am sure Oasis of the Seas will be very good at doing what she is designed for. _________________ Stephen

The more I read about her, the more I see Stress in sailing this large a ship.
The Main Theater seats a little under 1400 people. Even with two seatings , only 50% of the passengers ( at only double occupancy) could see them.
And at 90 minutes, is "HairSpray " being done twice a night ?
The Aqua Theater only seats 600. I see many disappointed people.
Disappointed people make for problems and everyone hears them.
Three months prior one can go online and book reservations for shows ?
For the passenger that does not know to book ahead, they could find themselves unable to see a show. Already only 50% will be able to anyway.
Okay, many people don't want to go to shows and there will be other entertainment available.
I liked the idea that we could eat dinner, then stroll into the theater to see the evening show. Did not have to get there an hour before to be sure of a seat and knew that everyone on board could see the show at one of the two performances.
This ability made the cruise more relaxed We did not have to plan a day ahead, much less three months. Now there is the Stress of competing for the few places available for shows. Then combine that with anytime dining where you could wait again.... Gee, I see alot of waiting and waiting.
It would be a miracle with that many people, if a passenger doesn't find themselves in lines a good percent of the cruise.
I am a Dinosaur. I just don't understand the new ideas being put into place in cruising.
